Factfulness - Hans Rosling
My favorite review for this wonderful book, introduced to me by @drmoehle, is by Melinda Gates, who says, “Hans Rosling tells the story of ‘the secret silent miracle of human progress’ as only he can. But Factfulness does much more than that. It also explains why progress is so often secret and silent and teaches readers how to see it clearly.”
This one is fueling my search for the "silent miracle of human progress" - so often obliterated by the salacious, the disreputable, and dramatic.
That Other Book I'm Reading..
The Order of Time - Carlo Rovelli
The combination of science and poetry is irresistible to me. Here I'm reminded that "Now" means nothing; for a moving object, time contracts; and that the difference between the past and future refers only to our own blurred vision of the world.
The notion of 'particularity' is born only at the moment we begin to see the universe in a blurred and approximate way. (30) Yes. Please. Surely, opportunity lives here.

What I'm Watching
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - Season 2
I love the vibrance of the Rachel Brosnahan's character - in fact the whole ensemble is terrific, as the awards shows have corroborated. Midge's life is outwardly quite a mess, and yet she moves toward a North star that she clutches with both hands - leaving a trail of busted expectations and aghast contemporaries in her wake. Blow it to smithereens and it will come down fairy dust. How often this is true.
